In reply to the NP National Candidate Jonathan Young letter 12/09/ 2008.
As he refers to myself and the New Plymouth Independent Seat I am putting forward this 2008 general election.
In which Jonathan asks a number of questions best answered by myself the seats proposer.
Firstly how will I ascertain what the interests of New Plymouth are...
If Jonathan had lived in New Plymouth and was involved in his community in last few years he would know what they are.. I on the other hand do get involved in the community on many levels... I go to the community meetings of concern... I read the community papers.. I write to the local papers... I get involved in the issues... The popular and unpopular one's, unlike the other party candidates that you only see at election time.
For Jonathan's sack so he has something to campaign on without patronizing or preaching his ideals..
The three main issues at the moment for the voters of the New Plymouth electorate are...
(Roading and Infrastructure).
(The Proposed LNG Terminal at the Port).
(Land Treaty Settlements).
The New Plymouth Independent Seat is not about me Jonathan as you suggest it is about New Plymouth Electorate and its issues. I merely hold the door open for the main stakeholders of these issues to came and negotiate their issues through the New Plymouth Seat on behalf of New Plymouth directly to those in power. Thats better than waiting for a party candidate that is 66 on his list or a party Minister in power like Harry has been for many years doing it for us. The fact is you can't or won't because your both party lackeys, your parties and their issues come first not New Plymouth and its issues.
When Jonathan says political parties bring us COHESIVE CONTINUTTY CONSENSUS and STABILITY you wonder were he's been the last decade or so. Another reason the New Plymouth electorate and its voters need to have their own Independent Seat. He also needs read up on the MMP system, because it is obvious from his letter he has no understanding of it.
For the record my personal issue is the Paritutu Dioxin issue not one of the main issues for New Plymouth at this stage, so is not on the list of the three main issues to be negotiated. But there is hope that the Government of the day will apologies to the people of New Plymouth for the Crowns involvement and cover up on the issue. Theres still a lot of water to go under the bridge at this stage. First we need to get the New Plymouth Independent Seat empowered. And that can only be done with the help of the New Plymouth's electorate voters electorate vote, not party vote.
